Coffee cultivation in Gayo Highland was started in 1924 by the
Dutch Colony. It lies on the altitude of 900 – 1700 M
above sea level with rainfall rate at around 1,643 – 2,000 mm/year which is considered highly favorable for coffee plantations.
Gayo Highland is the most important area for Indonesia’s
Arabica Coffee. It is the largest Arabica coffee producing region
in the country.
It covers around 95,000 hectares, owned by about 66,000 families
of farmers. Almost 90 percent of coffee growers maintain organic
practices. The harvest period stretches from November to May

not only to make sure the traceability of our coffee but also to
make sure the quality of our cherry come from well
maintained, clean and healthy farm. We believe that
“great coffee start from the farm”
Hand sorting the cherry is required to make sure only ripe red
cherry is being processed.

All of Le Gayo coffee are roasted within medium
to medium-dark roast level
Some say that all arabica coffee characters in the world can be
tasted in Gayo arabica coffee. In other words Gayo arabica coffee
has the rich taste of the world’s coffees.
In 2017, European Union has awarded Gayo coffee with
Protected Geographical Indications (PGI) status, the only
product from Indonesia obtaining the PGI status, signaling that
the coffee is an authentic product with superior quality.
